2016 Winners Testimonials

"It was a real honour to be awarded the Central Services team of the year in 2016, it was a great opportunity to share with the wider housing industry the Places for Peoplegreat work that the IT team at Solihull Community Housing have been doing over the last year. My team have been finalists 3 times in the past and I was beginning to think we would never win. So even if you have entered in the past and been unsuccessful, I would strongly urge try you to try again this year."

"The award is a tribute to the many people who have supported communication across our Charity.  In particular it recognises the work of our residents and volunteers who have done so much to promote our campaigns and advocate on ExtraCare's behalf"

“I was brought up to see the value of looking after poorer people in our society. When I recognised the transformational power of social housing, I knew that I wanted to devote my career to improving fair access to housing, to improving lives and supporting neighbourhoods.  I was thrilled to be nominated for a Housing Heroes award and overwhelmed to win the Lifetime Achievement prize. The congratulations that flooded in to me that night and in the following days and weeks were shared by all the housing professionals I’ve taught and those I’ve had the privilege to call colleagues. It meant an enormous amount.”

“It was great to win on the back of a tough year in housing, and it felt even more special to have been nominated by my staff and to have this endorsed by the panel of judges, was an absolute thrill.  Sharing it with everyone back at the Trust was a great moment, couldn’t have done it without them.  I’d say to those thinking about entering to go for it, all the categories are hard-fought with some amazing work and people nominated and it’s fantastic to share a part of it.”

“I was so proud to have been nominated by B3Living for the Housing Heroes award, but to have actually won is amazing. I’m very grateful to B3Living for giving me the opportunity to be able to help the Food bank and for the support from all my lovely colleagues.”‚Äč
