"I felt both honoured and humbled to have won, especially when I saw what had been written about the other 5 finalists. To be honoured for something I’ve enjoyed doing is just the icing on the cake, but I could not have done it without the support of my family and the committee members who I have worked with over many years."

"Winning Career Development of the Year at the Housing Heroes Awards was a total shock and I still can’t believe I won.

Winning the award gave me more drive to develop my career and to accelerate my professional development and have since changed career direction and moved to The Watkin Jones Group as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, constructing large scale, high quality student accommodation throughout the country, working UK wide, on a development scheme to progress into a Quantity Surveyor.

Getting to where I am now has been hard work – all made easier by the support I was given by Weaver Vale Housing Trust. Without their support, winning the award wouldn’t have been possible.

The award has opened many doors of opportunity for me and who knows what the future will hold in my Career Development."

"Communications and getting the messages right and on target are more valuable than ever in the Housing Association sector.   It was very timely to have the new category of Communications Team of the Year for 2015, and again this year.  It’s wonderful to be recognised within the sector, particularly for our innovative “More than a home” campaign.  Winning the Award was a very special moment which gave the whole team a real lift, and it’s certainly an achievement to be very proud of."

"Winning Mentor of the Year was a real honour. The work myself and my team of volunteers do can lead to young people improving their lives, increasing their skills and confidence, and, in some cases, gaining employment. Getting recognition for this was a boost for us all, and I look forward to working with even more this year. Thank you to Inside Housing for giving us this opportunity and endorsement."

"Our Neighbourhood Impact Officer (NIO) Service won the Frontline Team of the Year award at the Housing Heroes Awards in 2015. This was a real accolade for our 24 strong team and gave us a real sense of personal pride.

It has also bolstered our reputation both within whg and externally and has helped drive us to build on our success even further."
